Music is a powerful way to connect to our faith. We don’t just listen to the words and instruments, we feel the music. Combining artistic expression with worship is a beautiful way to get closer to Christ.
Brian Overton currently stands as Co-Worship Leader as St. Anne of Grace Episcopal Church and spreads his love of worship as the Lead vocalist and Bassist of contemporary Christian rock band, His Word. Today he shares top folk christian artists to listen to:
- All Sons and Daughters. Despite announcing in 2018 that this acoustic folk duo would no longer be making music together, their songs still stand as beautiful pieces of worship music. Themes in their music center around healing, empowerment, and reflection. Their acoustic tones and warm vocals are sure to soothe your soul.
- Andrew Peterson. As one of the most respected contemporary Christian singer/songwriters, Peterson has a knack for connecting people. He is a founding member of a group of Christian songwriters known as the Square Peg alliance. His genres cover everything from christian pop to folk rock, bluegrass, and country gospel. His music has the power to pierce the soul.
- Caedmon’s Call. This group has been bringing a mix of traditional folk, alternative rock, and world music to the Christian contemporary music scene since 1993. The band’s name was inspired by a monk in the 7th century who was afraid to sing in public. An angel one night appeared to him in a dream and called him to sing.
